Living in the state of California brings positives and negatives, just as any area does. The warm weather is inviting as well as the many activities offered for all ages. However, do you ever worry the heat may cause a fire this time of year? It is important to have the proper protection, especially before more disasters occur.
According to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the San Gabriel Valley and Whittier areas can expect temperatures near 100 degrees. Starting yesterday, this two-day heat wave has left residents hot and frustrated.
Yet, weather experts say that the danger of wildfires has decreased due to the rain received earlier in the month. “Fortunately, we did get the storm a week or two ago that did help to moisten the vegetation and fuels out there,” said National Weather Service forecaster Ryan Kittell. “As of now, we are looking OK for fire weather concerns.”
If the heat continues to rise in the coming weeks, Kittell says the fire danger will increase. Normally, temperatures for this time of year are in the mid-80s for the Valley, he said.
The heat will have short life-span because by Friday, temperatures will return back to normal and could even move into the 70s by Sunday, Kittell said. “It is going to be an abrupt change, just like these days were an abrupt change,” he said.
